throat, you can add 2 – 3 drops of the oil in a glass of juice and it will relieve the soreness. For
those who have an acute sinus infection, adding a few drops of oreganol in a bowl of hot water and inhaling the
steam will relieve them of the infection. The oil will also act as an anti-inflammatory agent that will reduce
the inflammation of the sinus cavities and will facilitate sinus drainage.
• Skin Problems – you can use this essential oil for treating various forms of skin
allergies, insect bites, eczema, etc. Fungal infections such as nail fungus are also cured by topical application
of this oil. The typical method is by diluting oregano oil with olive oil before applying it in the affected skin
area.
• Acne – this condition is a usually caused by a type of bacterial infection. Since oreganol
has antibacterial properties, it can be used to control and even eliminate this condition. It will also
reduce skin inflammation. For this application, use a cotton bud and dip it into the oil and place it on the
acne. Do this twice a day, once in the morning and once before going to bed.
• Arthritis – oregano oil is better than conventional drugs and pills when it comes to
treating arthritis. It is comparable to the pain relieving properties of Morphine. This essential oil will
penetrate deeply into your tissues where it can reach the synovial fluids in your joints. This will be enough to
relieve the pain and the inflammation. You can mix 1 drop of this oil with 5 drops of virgin olive oil or coconut
oil and apply it generously to the affected joints.
• Ringworm – the anti-parasitic and anti-bacterial properties of oreganol is very effective
in fighting these parasites. You can kill ringworms infecting your skin by mixing one part of oreganol with five
parts of virgin coconut oil. Get a ball of cotton and soak it in this mixture. Apply it directly to the infected
area twice a day. If you want to treat this condition faster, take two or three drops of the oil under your tongue.
You can also take the oil internally by mixing two or three drops into a glass of juice.
• Candida – you can also use oregano oil to control the activity of Candida. Its antibiotic
properties will be effective in treating this condition. Apply the oil to the affected area until the condition
clears. If the infection is internal, take 5 or more drops under your tongue two or three times a day. Repeat this
procedure for up to a maximum of three weeks or until the treatment is successful. For maintenance, take two drops
twice a day. If you need to apply it to your genital area, don’t apply it in concentrated form. It will give you a
burning sensation and may damage your skin. Dilute one or two drops with one tablespoon of coconut oil and
then apply it gently to avoid irritating the skin.
• Herpes – since oil of oregano also has anti-viral properties, it can be used
effectively against the herpes virus. Many studies have proven that this oil can disintegrate the virus. You
need to apply a little of this oil to the cold sore when you feel that it is about to erupt. The typical tingling
sensation will be felt before the eruption. If you apply the oil at this time, the eruption will stop.
Continue applying the oil until the cold sore is gone. It will also help facilitate the healing if you take 2 to 3
drops of the oil under your tongue every day. This mode of treatment can also be used for genital herpes.
